The Most Inspirational Mom

Posted on

Every day my mom amazes me in new ways, and I’m excited to have the platform to tell you about this awesome woman.

Here’s the top 5 ways my mom inspires me every day:

Positive Energy – If you’ve met my mom you know that she walks into a room with a positive energy like no other. My Auntie Linda wrote, “The first thing I love about my sister is her smile……always present and accompanied by much laughter.  You can count on her to bring happiness into the room.”  She’s got a positive attitude no matter WHAT the situation… and emulates positive energy with every person she interacts with. Customers love working with her. Staff love greeting her in the office. Family knows that you’ll always get a big hug and she’ll be excited to see you. Jessie said, “Auntie Theresa walks through the door and and happy tears automatically fill my eyes. I’ve missed my auntie Theresa so much I ran up and hugged her so tight I never left her side for the rest of the night.”

This was true with family but also with friends and special girls growing up. My mom was our baseball coach and when asked about my mom Andy said, “Terri always made us feel so loved. I felt like she saw us as her daughters in a way. She was always smiling laughing and having fun. I looked up to her for sure! Xo”

"Mother's hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever."

Relentless pursuit of dreams – When I was growing up phrases like, “Reach for the stars” and  “What if” were always around me. My mom loves to dreams and has filled my head full of crazy ideas that anything is possible. I think that that excitement, that passion, and that commitment to dreaming, but then doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to make it happen, is something that really inspires me. I love knowing that when I have a ridiculous idea, no matter how far out in left field it’ll be, that I’ll always have someone who not only supports me, but jumps up to help out and says, “Okay Jami, let’s do this.”

"But what if I fall? Oh, my darling, what if you fly?"

How beauty is more than skin deep – There’s no doubt in my mind that my mom is stunningly beautiful. But what makes her really stand out is her inner beauty. While I know that sounds cliché, it’s through her that I really got to understand what that means. One of her good friends Susan said, “I think she is beautiful when she talks about her grandkids.” You see, great hair and killer makeup only goes so far. The beauty of the twinkle in her eyes. The way her dimples light up a room, or how her energy can instantly lift spirits. She’s stunning… not because of how she looks, but because of how she looks at you.

Her commitment to family – I’m pretty sure if she could have come up with the motto, “Family first” she would have. Needless to say she certainly embodies it, in every aspect possible. She’s an amazing wife, always going above and beyond. An amazing mother, and an even more fabulous Grandma. But what really strikes me is her ability to be the epicenter of so many people, and make each one of us feel like we’re the center of her world when we’re with her. Whether you see her every day, or only a couple times a year, if you’re family, you’ll know that she’s there for you. Mandi shared, “She always listens and gives good advice, even if it’s to pull my head outta my butt”

Her killer sense of humor – When it comes to Christmas dinner in my family everyone wants to sit at the table but NO ONE wants to sit next to “Auntie Theresa.” The reality is that that special seat means you’ll be picked on relentlessly, with mash potatoes either going up your nose because she’s “bumped” your arm, or spitting milk out because she’s made you laugh so hard. While the more formal members of our family (my grandma) didn’t necessarily see the humour, when we were kids we all “fought” over who got the spot, even though we all pretended we didn’t want it.

My mom is always up for a good time… often picking on others with a sense of humour that makes you think. Kids love it. Adults do too. It’s that ability to poke fun at others and make them laugh that lends us all to gravitate towards her.

"We didn't realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun."

So Happy Mother’s Day Mom… not only from me, but from your family and friends, who openly admit, “Probably don’t tell her often enough how much she means to me, that I love her & grateful for her friendship”. I know I’m guilty for that too. I take my mom’s existence in my daily life for granted, often getting caught up in what’s going on to stop and sit and enjoy the day. So now I broadcast my love and admiration for you Momma… to celebrate who you are, all you’ve given to this world and everything that is yet to come. You’re a force to be reckoned with, a beautiful, hardworking, dedicated force that makes up one fantastic Mom and Grandma.

My daughter says I am the best mom in the world. I always tell her she’s wrong… that title has already been taken.

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!

PS – I Love you!
