Things To Do In Langley BC – 2025 Guide To Restaurants, Shops, & Adventures In Langley City

Posted on

If you’re looking for things to do in Langley BC, I have your first stop: McBurney Plaza in Langley City!

My head was looking down at the brick paving stones as I walked around the corner and into the plaza. When I looked up, I saw a sky of bright umbrellas cast upon a backdrop of bright blue sky with white puffy clouds, as if they were photoshopped into place. My group all quickly pulled out cameras and started capturing the dancing umbrellas, this little urban oasis of a park, undoubtedly one of the most picture perfect places in Langley City.

And after spending a day touring Langley City and capturing over 300 images, I realized that there were so many beautiful moments to be photographed. From a world class food scene with food art at Food by Fanta, to the mural walk that lights up the downtown core, to the beautiful artistry at the Maker Cube, to the urban oasis and the baby ducklings at Brydon Lagoon, there is so much to explore in Langley City and I’m here to highlight them all for you.

Warning – You won’t be able to do this all in one day (as Langley City is 10 square kilometers in size), so plan a day or two, or if you’re like me and live here, be a tourist in your town and get out, explore Langley City, and “Experience the Wonder” more regularly.

25 Things to do in Langley BC

An adventure seeker by nature, who always has my camera in my backpack, I wanted to highlight some of the most fun things to do when visiting Langley City. This article will feature 25 things to do with a focus on ways to support local. Did you know that for every $1.00 you spend at a local business, $0.45 is reinvested in the local community?

Adventures In Langley City

1. Langley City Mural Walk

a woman stands in front of a colourful mural in langley city and is holding a mural walk map pamphlet

An adventure that meets at the intersection of art and community, the Langley City Mural Walk is a great way to explore downtown Langley. With almost 30 murals painted around the downtown core, you can grab a mural walk map from the Discover Langley City Visitor Centre and take your time meandering through the streets and seeing if you can spot all 28 beautiful creations.

While you’re visiting the murals, there are two things to look out for: hidden Pokémon and QR codes. In the Octopus Extraordinaire, you can find a hidden Pokémon, the perfect hide-and-seek game for the kids!

And if you spot a mural with a QR code next to it, be sure to scan it and watch the mural come to life with an augmented mural experience. For more information and to download an online mural walk map, visit their website.

Fun fact: If you post any content on social media, be sure to use #MuralWalkLangley to have your photo featured!

2. Maker Classes at Maker Cube

I had never heard of Maker Cube before, but now I can’t stop telling everyone about our visit!

a wall of wood working tools stands inside the woodshop at maker cube in langley city

A warehouse-style building in the industrial area of Langley City, this innovative space welcomes creatives of all kinds to come together. The physical space includes a large woodworking room, welding room, pottery studio, 3D printers, vinyl cutter, and t-shirt heat press.

Members can learn skills in each craft and then earn badges, allowing them to use the equipment and space without supervision. They can rent cubicles and design the space to meet their creative needs, many of them running businesses out of Maker Cube

We had signed up for one of their classes, which they offer lots of every month. From welding 101 to acrylic crafts, to pottery, you can find a class that meets your interests and head home with something that you made. This would be a perfect outing for a celebration or a gift to give as a present.

3. KPU Brew Lab

Did you know that Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has the only brewing diploma in BC?

On Friday’s the campus is open to the public from 1 pm – 6 pm, where you can bring your growlers for a refill or pick up a case of student-made beer at the KPU Brew Lab. Each week, the products change as they are a result of the students’ school projects!

two instructors at the KPU brew lab are speaking to a group of people about the program

While you’re there, be sure to ask for a tour as they love sharing insight on how they use locally grown barley, where and how the brews are made, and even how the canning process works (the machine was super neat to see in action!).

With students as your guides, this is a neat asset in Langley City and a great way to support the local community.

4. Fast Track Indoor Go Karting

There’s nothing like a good adrenaline rush as you whip around a track in a go-kart. Located in downtown Langley, Fast Track Indoor Go Karting has been inviting you to come and test your driving skills for over 10 years! We love going when we have family in town and want to get a little friendly competition going. We’ve also gone for birthday parties, or just dropped in when we are in need of speed and adventure!

5. Newlands Golf and Country Club

With two courses to choose from and 2 restaurants to suit your style, Newlands Golf and Country Club is a great place to hit the links right here in Langley City. Newlands has a Championship course and an 11-hole executive course, both open and welcome for the public to enjoy. After your game, you can check out Mr. A’s Patio Restaurant or Newlands Bar & Grill to refuel.

6. Theatre in the Country

Did you know that Langley City has a bustling theatre scene? Theatre In The Country invites you to book a night out and support community-based dinner theatre. With exceptional local talent, great food, and acts that will keep you entertained, the Langley Theatre In The Country should make your event calendar this year.

Fun Fact: I see that they have Sister Act coming in this June and I’m excited to check it out!

Where to Eat

Langley City is a foodies dream with over 200 restaurants within a 10 km radius! With a diverse collection of chefs bringing their passion for food to our community, there are so many incredible meals waiting to be devoured. Here are just some of our “must-visit” favourites worth adding to your restaurant list:

7. Food by Fanta

New to me, Food by Fanta is so much more than a meal, it’s a sensory experience for the eyes, the nose, the hands, and of course the tastebuds!

a corner sitting area inside the food by fanta restaurant

Almost too beautiful to eat (almost), Food by Fanta is led by inspiring chef Parinya (Fanta) Loptson, who delivers a world-class Thai menu with a variety of flavour combinations, some of the best food I’ve ever had (and as a Travel Writer I’ve been spoiled with incredible meals around the world).

Parinya’s passion for presentation and quality is meticulously delivered with every plate that is served, keeping regular guests coming back again and again, and new visitors (like me) calling it a new favourite after the first visit.

Fun Tip: While their restaurant experience is amazing, they also offer cooking classes and special events like Mother’s Day Tea! So if you’re looking to take your experience to another level, be sure to sign up for their newsletter on their website and learn more.

8. The Pie Hole

If you are a fan of pies (both sweet and savoury), then a visit to The Pie Hole is a must. Some of their sweet pies include Peaches & Cream Crumble, Coconut Custard Cream, and their top seller, Colleen’s Mistake (“This pie is a result of a delicious mistake that happened one day in the bakery and is here to stay! It has quickly become The Pie Hole’s favourite mistake.”). Equally as delicious are their savoury pies, including their Mac & Cheese Pie, Thai Chicken Pie, and their top seller, Steak & Stout Pie. Whether you grab a slice to sit and enjoy in the shop or grab a whole pie to take home to enjoy, a stop in at The Pie Hole is a must!

9. Akedo Showten

If you love ramen with mouth-watering, flavourful broth, generous toppings (shout out to their Meat Lovers ramen), and homemade noodles, Akedo Showten is the place for you. This tucked-away hidden gem serves up big bowls of warm comfort food. Don’t forget to start with their pan-fried gyoza and crispy Kara Age, the perfect addition to your ramen experience. This restaurant often has a line and even sells out some days, so be sure to head in early so you don’t miss out.

10. Lemon Bakery

Locally owned and operated, the Lemon Bakery prides itself on supporting local farmers, growers, and suppliers. They bake all their goods from scratch using 100% butter and no preservatives, and in small batches daily, ensuring the products you purchase are always fresh. In addition to baked goods, they offer an extensive sandwich menu, including fresh homemade soups. Lemon Bakery is the perfect spot for a sweet treat or lunch date.

11. Don’t Tell Nonna

If you are looking for an authentic Detroit and New York style pizzeria, look no further than Don’t Tell Nonna, one of Langley City’s newest eateries. Located in McBurney Plaza, their New York-style pizzas are the perfect foldable slices, and their Detroit-style pies are the perfect squares with crispy edges. They pride themselves on “top-tier ingredients, and killer flavours” and the “go-to spot for bold, unapologetic, and downright delicious pizza”.

Langley City Parks

12. Brydon Lagoon

a large fountain sits in the middle of brydon lagoon, one of the things to do in langley BC

As soon as we walked through the wooden arch at Brydon Lagoon, I slowed down my step as I spotted a momma duck with her little ducklings. Only a few days old, the little bundles of fluff were staying close to their mom while they walked along the shore’s edge, seeking out little treats for their afternoon snack.

a mother mallard duck walks the edge of brydon lagoon with its small fluffy duckling

Brydon Lagoon is an urban park that’s a great day trip in itself, or an addition to your Langley City adventures. Brydon Lagoon was first built in 1963 to serve as Langley City’s primary sanitary sewage facility. In 1975, Langley City was connected to the Greater Vancouver Regional District’s sewage system (GVRD), and Brydon Lagoon was no longer needed. It was at this time that the Langley Field Naturalists took an interest in turning it into a nature park, and that is when the work of planting trees and bushes, creating paths and trails, building nesting boxes for the birds, and constructing viewing platforms began and is now what it is today.

With a large, beautiful fountain in the middle of the lagoon, you can stroll the 1 km accessible loop around the lagoon and see a variety of birds along the way. Be sure to look out for the logs that are next to the shore, as on warm days you’ll see turtles out sunning!

looking through the trees at brydon lagoon, a row of houses can be seen in the background

If time allows, or you’re looking for an extended day in the area, be sure to check out the many trails around Brydon Lagoon area. They traverse through the area up into the forested regions and along the Nicomekl River. One time, we took our bikes out and spent the whole day exploring and stopping for picnics and photos along the way! I love how this area was preserved for future generations, not just for people but also for the birds and other species that call it home!

13. Douglas Park

In the heart of Langley City is their flagship park, Douglas Park. A place where the community can gather, there are a lot of different amenities for you to explore. Basketball, picnic tables, playgrounds, spray parks, trails, pickleball courts, sports boxes, trails, and more, Douglas Park is a beautiful park to visit. Douglas Park is also home to Spirit Square, a covered stage where there are often musical, theatrical, and other community events happening.

One of our fun family adventure days was when we went park hopping for the whole day, and finished with a picnic in Douglas Park. We had packed up a picnic lunch (and stopped for some treats along the way too) and went park to park for 8 hours straight! It was fun to be a tourist in our own town and visit local parks as a destination.

14. Langley City Park and Al Anderson Outdoor Pool

Also known as “The dinosaur park,” do you really need another excuse to visit? The playground features a gigantic T-Rex head on the top of the playground as well as big dinosaur eggs to climb inside of. There is also a climbing wall that looks like a dinosaur spine, so for kids of all ages, this park is one not to miss!

The Langley City Park is also home to the Al Anderson outdoor pool, making this is a great place to grab dinner from a local restaurant and head out on a sunny afternoon for a picnic and afternoon playdate with the whole family. There is a large grassy area as well as a covered picnic shelter.

Mom Hack: We often send out a group chat and tell everyone to bring something for a potluck, and then we’d meet up at the park and let the kids play while the adults watched and visited. It was a fun way to reconnect with friends, get some exercise, and not have to make dinner! (all while supporting local!).

15. Penzer Action Park

Did you know that Penzer Action Park is one of the largest parkour parks in Canada and calls Langley City home?

The parkour course is the centre of the action, but there are many other amenities, including a BMX bike park, a skate park, a bike pump track, and a huge greenway, perfect for kids to play. And not only will you see kids learning how to hop, jump, step, and leap, but you’ll see kids of all ages testing their agility skills on the course at Penzer Action Park (go on, adults, I encourage you to give it a try too!).

16. Sendell Gardens

One of my favourite little parks in Langley is Sendell Gardens. A hidden oasis in the middle of suburbia, 3.67 acres of land was donated to the city and has been beautifully preserved for locals and visitors to enjoy. Centered around a little stream called Muckle Creek, you can walk through delicately designed and meticulously maintained paths that will lead you through distinctive plants, shrubs, and trees. Be sure to stop at some of the reflection points, which include tables, picnic spots, and lookouts, allowing you time to soak it all in.

There is also a Tropical Greenhouse that is open to the public from April 1st to October 1st. Inside, you can see a variety of exotic plants, the perfect place to take the gardener in your life!

Visitor Tip: Plan to visit Sendell Gardens at least twice in a calendar year, with one season being the fall. With the changing colours of the leaves as they cascade over the boardwalk, my favourite season to go is in autumn, when I head there with my camera and a lot of time to capture the special colours that are only showcased in that season.

Shop Local

17. Cherry Pick Vintage

We love great thrifted and vintage finds! Cherry Pick Vintage in Langley City is a boutique shop offering a thoughtfully curated selection of vintage clothing and accessories. The store features a wide array of items, including graphic tees, sweaters, jeans, varsity jackets, and unique outerwear. The store also promotes sustainability by buying used goods to help keep them out of the landfill. Keep an eye on their Instagram page, where they announce their open mic nights, sales, and post photos of some of the amazing finds they have for sale. They even have a rag house sale, where the public is invited to their warehouse to pick through 10,000 lbs of clothing and purchase clothes for $7.00 per pound of clothes!

18. The Creative Bookworm

The Creative Bookworm is Langley’s only new and used bookstore! This family-run business was established over 14 years ago, and they pride themselves on being the cleanest and most organized used book store in the Lower Mainland. With thousands of used books, up to 80% off retail prices, this is the perfect place to find both used treasures and new finds. They also have new records, puzzles, and gifts as well for those looking to tune in to music or grab a gift for a special occasion.

Tip: Closed on Sundays, and are primarily open during the daytime, so check their hours before you visit, as they are not open during the evenings (aka, head there before you head out for dinner).

19. This Is It Gifts

This Is It Gifts is another hidden gem of a store in Langley City. Featuring “gifts for you and your home,” the store is filled with candles, linens, soaps, home decor items, drinkware, jewelry, accessories, and more. It is the perfect spot to grab gifts for all occasions, and you’ll be sure to find something for a birthday, Mother’s Day, baby shower, a housewarming party, a thank you gift, or a “just because” present. And if you aren’t sure exactly what you are looking for, their incredibly helpful staff are around to give you suggestions.

20. Sticky’s Candy

A child’s dream come true (well, and an adult’s too!), Sticky’s Candy Emporium is filled with treats to satisfy every sweet tooth. Locally owned and operated, this candy store has been providing sugary treats for over 11 years. With all the new loved favourites for kids today, and nostalgic candy for the adults, Sticky’s has something for everyone. With a mission of supporting over 50 small businesses and BIPOC makers from BC and across Canada, BIPOC + Local Marketplace Langley is a great place to invest in this local movement and get some great gifts or items for people you love. With a goal of “…changing the retail game for local makers and creatives in BC,” this storefront has a variety of products for you to choose from, with money going back to support local makers.

From candles to soaps, trucker hats to custom mugs, to jewellery and accessories, stickers and more, if you’re looking to shop local in Langley, BIPOC + Local Marketplace Langley should be your first stop.

22. Toy Traders

Another fun fact that most local Langley residents don’t know is that the largest independent toy store in CANADA is right here in Langley City!

Since 1995, Toy Traders has called Langley home, welcoming toy seekers and collectors alike through their doors. As a customer for over 16 years, what I love the most is their trade-in program, where you can upcycle gently used toys in exchange for Toy Trader bucks. An eco-friendly movement, this helped our family as the kids’ interests evolved.

If you’ve never been to Toy Traders, it is an adventure all on its own. With 17,000 feet of games, toys, collectables, and incredible displays, it’s more than a store, it’s an experience.

Tip: Look up! This store has so many fun displays with incredible details that you need to take your time to look all around so you can see it all (but you’ll likely need more than one visit to see everything, because every time I go in, I notice something I hadn’t seen before!).
